Why this policy exists

Cutz works because a queue on the screen matches a queue in real life. Everything in this policy protects that one thing.

If someone joins five queues to keep their options open, four barbers plan around a customer who will never arrive. If a barber marks phantom services complete, their numbers lie to the Salon Operator. If a Salon Operator posts fake reviews for a salon, every honest salon's rating means less. Rules that look petty in isolation are what keep the product truthful.

This policy applies to everyone using Cutz, in every app, in every role. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

1. General principles

You must:

1.1 Use Cutz honestly and only for its intended purpose.

1.2 Give accurate information about yourself, your business, and your queue.

1.3 Respect other users — customers, barbers, and salon staff alike.

1.4 Comply with Nigerian law, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018.

2. Queue integrity

Do not:

2.1 Hold more than one active queue position at a time, or join several queues to keep your options open.

2.2 Join a queue with no intention of attending.

2.3 Create additional accounts to hold extra positions, evade a restriction, or get round a limit.

2.4 Sell, trade, auction, or transfer a queue position.

2.5 Join a competitor's queue to waste their time or inflate their wait times.

2.6 Add fake walk-ins, or add real people who have not agreed to be added, to make a queue look busier or quieter than it is.

2.7 Mark a service as started, completed, or a no-show when that did not happen.

2.8 Manipulate queue order, service durations, opening hours, or capacity settings to misrepresent your salon's availability or wait time in discovery results.

2.9 Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to join queues, monitor positions, or take any queue action.

3. Accounts and identity

Do not:

3.1 Impersonate another person, a barber, a salon, a Cutz employee, or any organisation.

3.2 Register a phone number or email address you do not control.

3.3 Register a salon you do not own or are not authorised to manage.

3.4 Share, sell, or transfer your account.

3.5 Ask anyone for their one-time code, or share yours. Cutz staff will never ask you for a code.

3.6 Create accounts in bulk, or create accounts by automated means.

4. Content and conduct

Do not post, upload, or transmit anything that:

4.1 Is false, misleading, or deceptive, including fake reviews and invented business credentials.

4.2 Is abusive, threatening, harassing, or intimidating.

4.3 Is hateful or discriminatory on the basis of ethnicity, state of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.

4.4 Is defamatory or damages someone's reputation without a factual basis.

4.5 Is obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit.

4.6 Depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity.

4.7 Infringes anyone's copyright, trade mark, or other rights — including using photographs of haircuts, premises, or people that are not yours to use.

4.8 Contains another person's personal information without their consent — phone numbers, addresses, images, or anything else.

4.9 Is unsolicited advertising, spam, a pyramid or referral scheme, or a link to an unrelated commercial site.

4.10 Contains malware, viruses, or any harmful code.

4.11 Contains health information, financial information, identity numbers, or other sensitive data. Never put a NIN, BVN, bank details, or medical information into a name field, a note, or a review.

5. Harassment and safety

5.1 Do not harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate any user, in the app or in person as a result of contact made through Cutz.

5.2 Do not use information you obtain through Cutz — a customer's name, a barber's schedule, a salon's address — to contact, follow, or pressure someone outside the Services.

5.3 Do not use Cutz to organise or facilitate any unlawful activity.

5.4 If you feel unsafe, contact the police or the relevant emergency service. Cutz is not an emergency service. Report the incident to us afterwards at hello@cutz.ng so we can act on the account.

6. Ratings and reviews

6.1 The Community & Review Guidelines set the detailed rules. In summary: review only services you actually received; do not write, buy, incentivise, or solicit fake reviews; do not review your own business or a competitor's; and do not pressure or penalise a customer over a review.

7. Data and privacy

Do not:

7.1 Collect, scrape, harvest, crawl, index, or bulk-download data from the Services by any automated or manual means.

7.2 Copy or reproduce our salon listings, barber profiles, ratings, or queue data to build or populate another product or database.

7.3 Use personal information you access through the Services for anything other than serving that customer at that salon — see clause 9.5 of the Terms of Service.

7.4 Sell, rent, publish, or otherwise disclose personal information you obtained through the Services.

7.5 Export customer lists for your own marketing without a lawful basis and the customer's consent.

8. Security and technical integrity

Do not:

8.1 Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure, without our prior written permission.

8.2 Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of any part of the Services, except to the extent this restriction is unenforceable by law.

8.3 Access or attempt to access another user's account, data, or session.

8.4 Interfere with the operation of the Services, including by overloading, flooding, or denial-of-service attack.

8.5 Bypass rate limits, quotas, plan limits, or paywalls.

8.6 Access our APIs other than through our published applications, unless we have given you written permission.

8.7 Introduce malicious code, or use the Services to distribute it.

8.8 Frame, mirror, or embed the Services in another site or product without permission.

9. Competing use

9.1 Do not use the Services to build, train, benchmark, or market a competing product, or to gather competitive intelligence beyond what an ordinary user would see.

9.2 Do not use the Services to solicit our users away from the platform in bulk.

10. Responsible disclosure

10.1 If you discover a security vulnerability, tell us at hello@cutz.ng before telling anyone else.

10.2 Give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it. Do not access, modify, or delete other users' data, do not degrade the service, and do not demand payment as a condition of disclosure.

10.3 If you follow this process in good faith, we will not pursue action against you for the research itself, and we will credit you if you would like that.

11. Reporting a breach of this policy

11.1 Report abuse to hello@cutz.ng, or use any in-app report control where available.

11.2 Tell us what happened, who was involved, when, and at which salon. Screenshots help.

11.3 We treat reports confidentially so far as we can, but we may need to describe the substance of a report to the person it concerns so they can respond.

11.4 Do not file reports in bad faith to damage a competitor. That is itself a breach of this policy.

12. What we do about breaches

12.1 We choose the response proportionate to what happened. Depending on severity and history, we may:

  • issue a warning;
  • remove or hide content;
  • reject, reverse, or correct queue entries;
  • recalculate or withhold a rating;
  • restrict a feature — for example, the ability to join queues or post reviews;
  • remove a salon listing from discovery;
  • suspend an account temporarily;
  • terminate an account permanently;
  • refuse to provide the Services to you in future;
  • report the matter to the police or another authority; and
  • take legal action, including for our losses.

12.2 Serious breaches get immediate action. Fraud, security attacks, threats to safety, sexual content involving minors, and coordinated review manipulation may result in immediate permanent termination without warning, and referral to law enforcement.

12.3 Suspension does not entitle you to a refund of any subscription period — see the Subscription, Billing & Refund Policy.

12.4 Appeals. If you believe we got it wrong, email hello@cutz.ng within 30 days with your account details and why. A person will review it and we will respond in a reasonable time.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as new kinds of abuse appear. The current version is always at cutz.ng/legal/acceptable-use. Material changes take effect on at least 14 days' notice.
